About the Verein der Freunde und Förderer der ComNets-Einrichtungen e.V.

The Verein der Freunde und Förderer der ComNets-Einrichtungen functions as a platform, which regularly brings together active members, alumni and friends of the Communication Networks Institute (for example also representatives of project partners) in order to enable exchange.

The association was founded in 1993 in the entourage of the Communication Networks Institute Aachen managed by Prof. Dr.-Ing. B. Walke and possesses an active community of alumni and friends of the Communication Network Institutes of RWTH Aachen, of Uni Bremen, of TU Dortmund, of TU Hamburg-Harburg and of Hochschule Rhein-Sieg.

The association's benefits for its members consist of the following aspects:

  • Information about the institute's current work through automatic delivery of annual reports. These contain the current areas of work, publications of recent years as well as contacts.
  • Invitations, seminars and conferences by the institute
  • An annual meeting of the Freundeskreis with a social event at different locations of the association: networking and exchange about problems/chances in the companies and universities
  • Access to colleagues in other companies

Advantages for the staff and students of the institute are the following:

  • Appreciation of excellent work (for example by the Comnets-Master-Award for excellent final papers and the Bernhard-Walke-Promotionspreis)
  • Contacts to experts in practice (for example for job hunting and exchange of experiences)
  • Access to experts on site (for example for the initiation of projects)

Even if the activities of their "own" institute probably have priority for many members, a variety of goods is offered through the transregional character of the association.

We would love to hear from you if you are interested in a membership.
